Rui Tomás, Portuguese designer, graduated in Product Design from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Lisbon in 2012, where he received two merit scholarships for excellence and the Daciano da Costa Prize at FAUL. With a deep commitment to design excellence, Rui Tomás has garnered prestigious distinctions, including the German Design Award in 2019 and the Red Dot Design Award in the same year with Woody, an rocking horse. His exceptional contributions to the field were further recognized with another Red Dot Award in 2023, with Onda an Burel screen divider.
Since 2020, Rui Tomás has held the position of Creative Director of Product Design at Burel Factory, where he applies a multidisciplinary philosophy to his design approach. Currently pursuing a PhD in Design, Rui Tomás also serves as a visiting assistant professor of product design at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon.
